More Details
Collagen is the main protein found in the body’s connective tissue, and is made up of amino acids bound together. The name Collagen comes from the Greek κόλλα (kólla), meaning ‘glue’, and suffix -γέν, -gen, meaning ‘producing’. The protein has been used to aid bone grafts and tissue regeneration. Vitamin C is a compound naturally found in many fruits and vegetables - particularly citrus fruits. In addition, Hyaluronic acid is an important component of articular cartilage and skin. The molecular structures of collagen were first discovered in the mid-1930s. This has led to subsequent decades of research on how collagen is formed within the body. Vitamin C has been used for centuries medicinally, but was only properly discovered in the 20th Century, and Albert Szent-Györgyi was awarded the 1937 Nobel Prize for isolating the vitamin from its natural sources. It was the first vitamin to be chemically produced. Hyaluronic acid is derived from the Greek ‘hyalos’, meaning ‘glass-like’. Like collagen it was only discovered recently (in medical terms) by Karl Meyer and John Palmer in 1934, and has been used in eye surgery. It is also found in many skincare products.
The Vitamin C within our Collagen capsules has several uses. It contributes to normal collagen formation for the normal function of blood vessels, bones, and skin. Vitamin C also increases iron absorption. Additionally, the nutrient has been found to play a role in the reduction of tiredness and fatigue.
